India: my first day in Hyderabad.

Since my last post, I’ve left Sri Lanka and am now in Bangladesh. Really behind on posting, which I feel affects how much detail I put into each post. Apologies for this.

I was in Hyderabad for five days, from March 8-13. Hyderabad was more humid than Mumbai and Delhi, but the people seemed friendlier. Continue reading “India: my first day in Hyderabad.”

India: Gurgaon, the suburb of the country’s capital.

I leave India tomorrow for Sri Lanka, and I haven’t even talked about Gurgaon or Hyderabad.

Gurgaon was a much different place than Mumbai. I was there from March 5 to March 8. It’s a suburb of Delhi, the capital of India. Thus, the traffic wasn’t as bad, although people honked just as much. I feel like the drivers here use it more as a communication device rather than a danger signal. E.g. “I’m coming up behind you on your right side.” or “Hey pedestrian, I’m not going to stop so you better stop.” Continue reading “India: Gurgaon, the suburb of the country’s capital.”

India: security levels in public spaces.

India’s security is unlike anything I’ve seen before. I’m amazed at just how much security is in public spaces.

The military has been present at every airport I’ve been to here, which are Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad (the largest and busiest airports). Continue reading “India: security levels in public spaces.”

The food looks amazing. So do you still workout? I remember you used to lift!

Hello, thanks for your question!

When in Taiwan, I still work out 4-5 times a week. 90% lifting, 10% cardio (jogging to the gym and back, which is 1km each way). Continue reading “The food looks amazing. So do you still workout? I remember you used to lift!”

Mumbai: You can’t diet in India (#3).

I’m getting fat.. I’m sitting on this super comfortable couch, with a bloated stomach after a wondrous breakfast, posting about how I love the food here.

One of my favorite meals was random. I told my driver to take me to a local restaurant, and he did. The place was called “2 Star Restaurant” and it was very dark, sketchy looking. Thankfully, the owner spoke some English, and I told him to recommend three plates to me. I thought the portions would be tiny, and that three would fill my appetite.

Extended stay in Hong Kong, then off to Mumbai, India.

Unlike my first visit, my second visit to Hong Kong (2/24-2/25) was all business.

Landed, submitted my passport to the India visa processing office, and did some work in the hotel. Ate a delicious, pricey dinner to kick off the first of 28 days of traveling. Continue reading “Extended stay in Hong Kong, then off to Mumbai, India.”

Hong Kong: getting away from the buzz.

It’s been a crazy busy week, haven’t been able to blog. Here’s the final day of my [first] trip to Hong Kong (I flew back this morning).

On Sunday, February 16, Vivian found and treated me to a English lunch. We went to a sweet spot in Central and ate on the third floor patio in the city.
