Charline and Eugene, met.

“I wonder how many people I’ve looked at all my life and never seen?”

On Friday, 8/22, I was on the MRT (Taipei subway) on my way to dinner.

I hopped onboard and stood next to an English speaking couple. Two seats opened up soon and the three of us took those two seats. I asked where they were from.

Charline said she was from the United States, while Eugene said he was from Scotland. Continue reading “Charline and Eugene, met.”

Bangkok: Wat Pho, Thammasat University, Lumpini Park, and MBK Center.

One of my favorite classes at Berkeley was Southeast Asian Politics, where I learned about Thailand and its overall political, cultural, and social landscape. My visa exemption was expiring, so I scheduled a three week trip out of the country. First stop: Bangkok (Jul-19 to Jul-26), followed by Berkeley (Jul-28 to Jul-30), then Orange County (Jul-31 to Aug-10), and finally back to Taipei. Continue reading “Bangkok: rest and relaxation before business.”

Korea: a city tour of Seoul.

I have a lot to say about Seoul. Considering a short five day stay, I have relatively more to say compared to most countries I’ve been to. Much of this I must thank to:

  • Rolly, business contact turned friend.
  • Stephanie, fellow Cal student who is studying abroad at Yonsei University.
  • Andrew, friend since 7th grade! He’s just finished his masters in finance at Yonsei University.

On Saturday, April 19, Rolly took me on a full day city tour around the Seoul City Hall. We went to three palaces, beginning with Deoksugung Palace.
