On Sunday, 8/4/13, I watched the Citi Open 2013 finals. I went with fellow friend Jina and it was our first time watching live professional tennis (with the exception of last week).
We first watched the men’s doubles final. Front row seats, are you kidding me?
During the hour break between that match and the singles finals, we walked around and explored the venue: food, music, drinks, booths, all the usual goodies.
Then the fun began.
Men’s finals: Juan Martin Del Potro (#7) vs. John Isner (#20). I didn’t expect to be watching Top 20 players with a $65 ticket.
No such thing as nosebleed seats. We could see everything crystal clear.
Isner won the first set 6-3 and dominated with powerful serves. Del Potro seemed to have his timing off, but proceeded to dominate the second and third sets with great control. He ended up winning 6-1 and 6-2, becoming a three time Citi Open champion! I was neutral, but was hoping Isner would win because he looked a bit like my rowing coach.
Women’s finals: Andrea Petkovic (#64) vs. Madgalena Rybarikova (#43). Can I just say that both women look incredibly attractive in person?
Jina: Look at Petkovic’s arms and back. They’re so toned. She’s so sexy.
Andy: I’m in love. She’s so hot.
Jina: I want to do her.
Andy: Me too.
This match was more competitive, with Rybarikova winning 6-4 and 7-6 in a tiebreaker.
Great day.
