Thoughts of the week before flying to Denver, Colorado.

Thoughts of first week back from Netherlands. Half a week rather; I’m boarding a plane to Denver in 45 minutes.

Before I begin, wanted to share my awestruck: I went through the shortest airport security checkpoint today. How many people were in line at the security checkpoint?

One: me.

I love SFO.

Earlier this week, I walked into the office on Tuesday and was surprised to see an unfamiliar, yet unfamiliar face. Our Founder & CEO was in the office, and it was the first time I met him. We’ve had a plethora of interactions, but only through the net. To keep things short, sweet, and non-personal, I’m glad I met him. It’s very inspiring to see the person, and his mindset, that built a company from ground zero to cutting edge.

It’s good to be back in non-freezing weather. Glad to see Cal Lightweight Crew and even substituted for a sick rower. Growing tired of the one hour commute each way to work, but have been supplementing it with daydreaming.

Daydreaming about what I used to call home. Missing mom and dad, friends and family. Missing my car that is no longer mine, the subwoofers that have been unused. Missing the beach. And I can’t wait to see Captain Graham.

Daydreaming about what I’m going to call home for the next 1-3 years, or however long I wish to stay: Taipei, Taiwan. About improving my Mandarin and Taiwanese. About traveling the entire country on motorcycle. About visiting my relatives. About meeting Taiwanese locals and international expats. About traveling all of Asia and the Pacific regions.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it for a long time. I couldn’t have been luckier to get a job that I enjoy that matches my passion for traveling.

Up in the air in 36 minutes.

Last thoughts: I don’t read enough. One book every 1-2 months is pathetic. Reading is such a great stimulant, and I definitely have the time for it. Let’s make a vow to read more.
